Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell (born on 25th August 1949) is an American television chef and host. She also was an instructor for the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host sporting spiky blonde wigs and a pumped-up personality, explains how to prepare restaurant-style meals at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell also has worked in the top New York restaurants, has learned about the Italian food and culture and has was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While living in the New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went to earn an English degree and a Communications certificate in Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a fantastic experience. It was impossible to take enough enjoyment from the experience. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one period of time in Italy attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian philosophy and culture, which has had an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board members, which strives to increase the quality of life for children who face obstacles. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador, and is a vocal advocate for awareness of the dangers of childhood diabetes. She travels frequently around the United States in her position as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her career and love of cooking. Anne said she felt lucky to be able to communicate her love of cooking to others.
